Me + My Work

Thanks for taking a moment to find out a little more about me and Rain Spirit Studios.

My name is Deb and I relocated to beautiful North Carolina in 2001. I’m nestled between the Blue Ridge Parkway and Great Smoky Mountains on a small hobby farm tucked into the woods. I am so blessed to be able to look out my windows and find endless inspiration. From daily visits of deer running through my fields, to smelling fragrant wild flowers in the summer. Watching the colors spread over the mountains in the fall, to snow covered peaks in the winter.

I have been fabricating sterling silver jewelry by hand, using traditional silver smithing tools and techniques that have been developed over years of trial and experimentation. I've been selling my jewelry locally since 2008. As an artist, I'm dedicated in bringing you pieces composed of high quality gemstones and .925 sterling silver. I also use PMC pure silver clay in my designs as well.

I make every effort to run a sustainable, green business. The semi precious and precious gemstones I use are purchased from reputable suppliers and from Native American owned businesses that specialize in selling American mine turquoise. I also purchase some of my turquoise beads by Santo Domingo Pueblo artists like Lupe Lovato, who selects his raw turquoise from the Kingman mines and hand cuts them into beautiful strands to be used for jewelry.

For Dream Circle: My approach to my talismans is deeply aligned with the Japanese aesthetic of wabi-sabi and living in the moment of zen. My materials vary widely and come from around the world. I use ancient, antique and modern beads, fossils and artifacts. Antique silver and elements made from various tribes around the world. I work with leather and linen for medicine bags. All medicine bags are handmade and hand-sewn and each is OOAK.

THE COLLECTIONS

DEMORIAM
Demoriam’s pieces are inspired by Victorian Spiritualism + Memento Mori. Viking myths and Celtic magick. Using cast skulls claws and teeth, found objects, religious elements, antique and vintage items. Delivering pieces that are familiar yet remarkably unique. Jewelry that has a touch of elegant macabre. I started this collection in 2008 for women who were not afraid to wear something a little more edgy and unconventional.

DREAM CIRCLE
Sacred adornments. Shaman and Tribal pieces that are created for ceremony and spiritual practices. Made with uplifting and protective energy.

Also found in this collection is distinctive pieces that embody the spirit, quality and artistry of the American Southwest. Design components can include my own sterling silver made components and findings. Old Pawn Pendants, vintage findings, beads and cones; I use Turquoise from Nevada, Arizona & New Mexico mines; and other semiprecious Stones from around the globe.

DREAM CIRCLE BLENDS: Shaman and traditional Japanese scents. Using Spirit guided essential oils, herbs, wood and resin, aromatic blends. All my oils are hand-blended and my cones are handmade a few batches at a time for my limited offerings.
